Mariposario de Benalmádena
The Mariposario de Benalmádena is the largest butterfly park in Europe, where more than 1,500 butterflies from tropical areas all over the world, fly free.
Many of the butterfly species reproduce in the park itself, so you are able to see all the stages of their fascinating biological cycle. Every day, new butterflies are born in the nursery and you can watch them hatch from a chrysalis and then spread their wings, to take their first flight.
Some of the butterflies seen flying in the butterfly park, are bred in their home countries by local people, usually farmers with low incomes. Often, the plants needed to raise them are native species, with no other commercial value, so their cultivation contributes to the conservation and reforestation of these habitats.
The Mariposario de Benalmádena is 30 minute (2km) walk from Casa Christabel y Casa Annabel or a 5-minute drive.

Enlightenment Stupa of Benalmádena
The Enlightenment Stupa of Benalmádena is the largest stupa in the western world. Most people visit for the peace and quiet and the incredible views!
The Stupa is next door to the Mariposario de Benalmádena and so it seems perfect to visit both on the same day!

Sunday 1000-1430 and 1330-1930.
There is free guided meditation at 1800 every Tuesday and Friday.
The Stupa also holds various lectures and exhibitions which cost 2€.
